Leo's Oyster Bar

Leo's Oyster Bar

Josh Loring

Located in San Francisco’s Financial District, just a couple blocks from the Transamerica Pyramid building, Leo’s sits on a quiet street in the shadow of the tall skyscrapers that fill the neighborhood. Leo's website proclaims "Enter Leo’s and find a cocktail and oyster bar of the golden era," and they're absolutely right.
Part of the Big Night Restaurant Group's stable of popular eateries, Leo's plays the role of vintage raw bar where martini's and flutes of champagne compliment an array of oysters and other offerings.  The menu even includes something called "Mr. Nicholas' Liquid Lunch," which includes a classic gin or vodka martini with a side of house made pickled vegetables on the side.
While Leo's appears to be, first and foremost, an oyster and cocktail bar, the menu is much deeper, but still in the vein of golden era classic.  And probably more impressive than the food and drink is the decor – Leo’s attention to detail in impressive, to say the least.  From the colors to the fixtures to the proprietary and custom designed tropical themed wallpaper (available for purchase on their website), an evening spent at Leo’s is tough to replicate, and won’t be soon forgotten.
